Smell like a MacBook Pro with this new perfume - yes, really

Have you ever opened an Apple MacBook Pro box, inhaled and thought, "If I only I could smell like the inside of this box, I'd be the coolest person ever"? If so, your (frankly disturbing) dreams are about to come true with a new fragrance by Air Aroma, based on the smell of unboxing a new MacBook Pro.

Rather than the more traditional scents of sandalwood, rose or ylang ylang, Air Aroma acquired "samples of fragrances with the aroma of glue, plastic, rubber and paper" from the South of France to create the Apple-based perfume.

"The scent encompasses the smell of the plastic wrap covering the box, printed ink on the cardboard, the plastic components within the box and of course the aluminium laptop," writes Air Aroma on its website. "Apple fans will certainly recognise this smell." Why they didn't also include the dusty smell of your empty wallet is a mystery.

Thankfully -- or perhaps sadly, if you're an epic Apple fanboy -- this perfume won't actually go on sale. It's an artistic project by Australian artists Gavin Bell, Jarrah de Kuijer and Simon McGlinn and will be puffed around the air throughout their exhibition in Melbourne. For a similar effect without travelling around the world, just go into your local Apple Store and take a deep breath.

It's evidently not enough to simply love your Apple product anymore -- those powerful specs and unibody design don't mean anything unless you smell like the inside of the packaging it came in. Personally, I'm waiting for the Canon EOS 60D anti-perspirant and Xerox printer breath-freshener to arrive so I can finally walk into a cocktail bar smelling like I work in the back-room of Currys.
