CHINA(14 May 2012) Sepon is an open pit, copper and gold mining operation in southern Laos, which produced approximately 65,000 tonnes of copper per year. In 2011, a copper expansion project had lifted annual production capacity from to 80,000 tonnes per annum of copper cathode.

In the fourth quarter 2011, the LME issued a formal notice confirming that ’Sepon’ brand copper cathode had been listed as Copper – Grade A brand, eligible for delivery to LME-approved warehouses. This achievement has made the Sepon Gold and Copper Mine \ not only an important mining project for Laos but an important part of the Minmentals newly formed subsidiary MMG more than ever.

The question is: How can the increased targets be achieved with the mine having UXO constraint?

Mr Edi Widodo, Superintendent Mining at MMG LXML Sepon, Gold & Copper Mine, will share with us how load and haul has been improved in the Sepon Mine with the following points:
