AWS Expands Cloud Footprint in Asia with New Taipei Region and Singapore Innovation Hub
AWS debuts its Singapore Innovation Hub as part of a broader regional push to accelerate cloud, AI, and sovereign infrastructure capabilities.
Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon.com Inc., has announced two major investments to expand its AI and cloud infrastructure across Asia-Pacific. On June 5, 2025, AWS launched the Asia Pacific (Taipei) Region, followed by the inauguration of an Innovation Hub in Singapore on June 26, 2025. Both initiatives aim to support sovereign compute, regulatory compliance, and AI workload optimization across the region.
The Taipei Region provides low-latency cloud access while supporting data sovereignty and AI scaling requirements for the region. With multiple Availability Zones, it positions AWS to serve government agencies, financial institutions, and tech enterprises demanding in-market data storage and advanced compute capabilities. Chinese Taipei’s National Development Council, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and key semiconductor partners have welcomed the expansion as a catalyst for digital transformation.
In Singapore, the AWS Innovation Hub will showcase over 50 enterprise AI use cases and 30 partner solutions. AWS executives, including Priscilla Chong (Country Manager, Singapore) and Conor McNamara (Managing Director, ASEAN), emphasized their role in skilling talent and fostering cloud-native innovation. The launch aligns with the Smart Nation initiative and has drawn collaboration interest from Enterprise Singapore, IMDA, and EDB.
These developments strengthen AWS’s regional leadership in AI infrastructure and intensify competition with Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and Alibaba Cloud in the hyperscale data center race across Asia.
