Chunghwa Telecom Launches 12MW AI-Optimized Data Center in Taoyuan to Power Next-Gen Compute Workloads
Chunghwa Telecom expands AI-optimized digital infrastructure to support compute growth and energy-efficient design in Taoyuan.
Chunghwa Telecom, the largest telecommunications provider in Chinese Taipei, has launched a 12-megawatt AI-ready data center in Taoyuan. The new facility is part of the company’s broader strategy to meet rising demand for high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence (AI) applications, and sustainable digital infrastructure.
Completed in late June, the facility features advanced power and cooling systems, modular server halls, and a design framework centered on optimizing energy use. The “architecture-first” design focuses on airflow control, thermal zoning, and high-density rack configurations, allowing the facility to support intensive AI workloads while maintaining operational efficiency.
As part of its broader AI 2.0 initiative, Chunghwa Telecom aims to convert more of its existing data centers into AI-optimized facilities. The company is also investing in the development of its proprietary AI computing cloud platform to provide scalable services for enterprise and public sector clients.
In recognition of its leadership in this space, Chunghwa Telecom was recently awarded the 2025 Taiwan Competitive Strategy Leadership Award for Data Center Services by Frost & Sullivan. The award cited the company’s investment in next-generation infrastructure, energy efficiency, and integration of AI compute capabilities as key differentiators.
The Taoyuan facility will help position Chinese Taipei as a key regional player in AI infrastructure. With growing interest from cloud providers and AI developers across Asia, such facilities are expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting digital transformation and energy-aware compute growth in the region.
