The Agentic AI Revolution: HR Tech Giants Bet on Intelligent Software to Reshape Workflows
Oracle and Google Cloud expand access to Gemini AI via OCI, enabling AI agents for workflow automation, productivity, and research.
Enterprise HR technology in Asia is evolving rapidly. Major vendors are moving beyond basic automation toward agentic AI: systems capable of planning, reasoning, and executing multi-step workflows with minimal human intervention. This shift is reshaping talent management technology in Asia and redefining workplace productivity across the region.
Workday’s Acquisition of Paradox
Workday recently finalized the acquisition of Paradox, an AI conversational platform, to enhance its end-to-end talent acquisition suite. Paradox’s AI assistant, Olivia, manages high-volume hiring for frontline roles, handling tasks from candidate engagement to onboarding. The integration is expected to streamline workflows and boost recruiting efficiency – a practical example of HR automation strategies in Asia.
Oracle and the Gemini Models
Oracle announced the deployment of Google’s Gemini models across Oracle Cloud Applications, including Cloud HCM. This integration helps HR and finance teams with multi-step reasoning, code generation, and analytics. Embedding AI directly into core platforms underscores the growing importance of HR AI implementation strategies for APAC enterprises.
Google’s Regional Initiatives
Google is expanding localized AI programs in Southeast Asia. Its APAC AI for Society Initiative has committed $10 million to projects in healthcare, agriculture, and energy. In Singapore, the AI Cloud Takeoff program supports 300 companies in establishing AI Centers of Excellence with partners including Accenture, CloudMile, and NTT Data. These initiatives highlight the commercial potential of HR cloud solutions in APAC.
Collectively, these moves signal a new era where HR technology actively empowers employees and organizations. Agentic AI will be a key focus at HR Technology Congress Asia 2025 in Manila.
