AWS and Cisco Expand AI Cybersecurity Tools to Address Escalating Threat Landscape
AWS CISO Amy Herzog unveils new AI-native security features at re:Inforce 2025, signaling a shift toward embedded, infrastructure-level protection.
AWS and Cisco have rolled out new AI-focused cybersecurity features to help enterprises and hyperscalers secure their data infrastructure against evolving digital threats. The updates come amid increasing concern that the rapid deployment of GenAI could expose critical systems to vulnerabilities.
At its re:Inforce 2025 event, AWS announced updates to Amazon GuardDuty and Security Hub, providing enhanced threat detection for containerized environments, including Amazon EKS clusters. These tools offer deeper integration and consolidated risk views to streamline security operations across large-scale deployments. AWS regional security lead Bryce Boland emphasized the need for embedded and simplified security tools to match the scale of AI infrastructure adoption.
Meanwhile, Cisco has advanced its AI security strategy with tools introduced earlier in 2025, including its AI Defense portfolio and Hybrid Mesh Firewall. At Cisco Live 2025, the company unveiled AI Canvas, a generative AI interface focused on optimizing IT operations through agent-based automation. Cisco is positioning its network fabric as a security-first foundation for organizations deploying AI models and workloads.
Both companies aim to integrate security directly into the infrastructure layer, reflecting broader trends in zero-trust architecture and automation-driven protection. As AI adoption accelerates, proactive threat mitigation is becoming a non-negotiable element of infrastructure planning.
