Chunghwa Telecom Enhances Digital Infrastructure with AI-Optimized Investments
Chunghwa Telecom joins the Asia United Gateway East cable project, linking Taiwan with regional digital hubs via a high-capacity 8,900 km submarine system, scheduled for completion by 2029.
Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) is expanding its digital infrastructure through investments in new data centers and international submarine cables. These moves aim to support rising AI and cloud workloads in Chinese Taipei.
CHT is a key participant in the Asia United Gateway East (AUG East) submarine cable system, which will boost network resilience across Asia. The company also recently activated the SJC2 system, further enhancing bandwidth capacity.
Complementing these upgrades is a new 12MW data center in Taoyuan. Designed for high-density compute environments, the facility supports AI-centric workloads and incorporates energy-efficient features and renewable energy integration.
CHT has emphasized its commitment to strengthening national network resilience and supporting industrial AI adoption. The projects are part of broader efforts to build a sustainable and scalable AI-ready infrastructure.
