NGCP Launches Consultation Process for 2025-2050 Grid Development Plan
NGCP officials host a public consultation on the Transmission Development Plan 2025-2050, outlining infrastructure strategies to accommodate renewable and AI-driven power demands.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has initiated a series of consultations for its Transmission Development Plan (TDP) covering the years from 2025 to 2050.
The TDP outlines NGCP’s long-term strategies for expanding and modernizing the national grid. The plan includes proposed infrastructure upgrades, regulatory updates, and the integration of renewable energy sources.
NGCP President and CEO Anthony Almeda stated that the TDP reflects the corporation’s vision for ensuring a stable and reliable electricity supply. The roadmap includes timelines for proposed projects, discussions on smart grid technologies, and approaches to address increasing electricity demand, particularly from AI and digital sectors.
Consultation sessions are being held in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. These sessions involve stakeholders from government, the private sector, and regulatory agencies such as the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
The initiative marks a significant step in aligning the country’s grid development with national energy goals and emerging technological needs.
